Alysia Marie entered this world on January 12, 1976, and nothing
in our lives would ever be the same. Born to loving parents, Al
(Arvey) and Dee (Denise). Not long after, she was embraced by
more family…her brothers Ronnie and Larry, and Vicki rounded
out the family she loved fiercely. This dynamic and effervescent
life form was unique and multi-talented. She loved hard and would
equally fight hard for anything she believed in.
Alysia began her education at Doheny and Leona schools in Los
Angeles. Following her Mom’s career to Oakland Alysia attended
St. Leos, Bentley, and then St. Pascal’s for elementary and middle
schools. She graduated from Bishop O’Dowd High School. She
began her college experience at San Francisco State before
earning her degree at Cal State Dominguez Hills with a double
major and academic honors.
Early in life Alysia was a Camp Fire Girl and Hospital Jr.
Volunteer. She was exposed to the gastronomic world at The
Gingerbread House and we were treated to her culinary skills
throughout her life. Later, her career and entrepreneurial spirit
fostered many endeavors under an umbrella of “Mixed Media” the
Accounting and Custom Apparel business she founded.
Her recent volunteer work centered on the Murrieta children she
adopted as her own. All of her hobbies, business endeavors and
love of sports paled when compared to the passion she poured
into the Murrieta Valley Schools’ children. Her Boys often joked
that she might love ‘those kids’ more than them because if a child
needed something that she had she would give it to them, even if
it belonged to Dexter or Dean. She thoroughly enjoyed her work
as PTA President and as a member of various school functions.
Alysia was blessed with two sons, the loves of her life, Dexter
and Dean Cole, whom she adored. Dexter was her ‘person’, the
one she relied on, and Dean, her ‘baby’, whom she doted on. Her
mantra for them, as noted on their refrigerator, was ‘FAILURE IS
NOT AN OPTION’. She guided them towards achieving that goal.
Love of travel came naturally for the girl who spent her second
week of life in Palm Springs and visited Europe by age three. One
of her most memorable trips was recently to Hawaii with her sons
and Melissa.
Alysia loved her family and friends immensely, especially Anna,
officially her cousin, but really her older sister and life-long yin and
yang. When Dan, her other Dad, entered her life they formed a
deep and unbreakable bond for the rest of her life. Her childhood
friends were her touch stone. Her ‘GIRLS’, as she called them,
were as full of life and ready for the adventures they regularly
enjoyed together.
Alysia was called into the loving embrace of our Lord on
Saturday March 7, 2020. She was preceded in death by her much
loved Grandmother’s, Antonia Baptiste and Jewel Dean Nealy,
Great-Grandmothers Viola Dennis and Ruth Hardy. She leaves
to cherish her memory her devoted children, Dexter and Dean;
her beloved mother Dee Farrell (Dan), her father Arvey Lyons Jr.
(Vicki), her Great-Grandfather Arvey H. Lyons (Pearl), her siblings
Ron Newble (Lina), Larry Newble, Darick Farrell, and her Uncle
Roger Jackson. Alysia will also be remembered by her Girls,
Uncles, Aunts, Cousins, Nieces, Nephews, God-children, and
extended family and friends.
