Obituary

Francisco Javier Garcia Montes,57 years old, A Father, husband, brother, uncle, cousin, friend and dog dad. Everyone who knew him could say he was easy to get along with, kind, happy, social, and hardworking.

On February 22nd, 1963 his parents Felix Garcia Huerta and Maria Trinidad Montes Rincon, introduced him to this world where he was born and raised in Union De Tula, Jalisco Mexico. He was the youngest of 10 siblings, 6 brothers and 4 sisters. While growing up in Jalisco, he would enjoy spending his time along his dad helping him work in the countryside. He loved to attend to church, his family noted that he was very helpful by always offering a helping hand around the house. He spent a lot of time with his nieces and nephews because they were closer to his age. He would sit outside his house listening to Los Bukis cassettes on his boombox, he also was a fan of John Lennon.

At the early age of 20 he immigrated to the U.S. where he stared a new life in San Diego County. Shortly after he met and eventually married Julia Garcia and inherited two stepchildren, Jaime and Dewny Trujillo. She was his partner in life for over 25 years in which he fathered two of his own children, Edgar nicknamed “El Bambino” and Cristina nicknamed “la muñeca”. While many knew him as Francisco, others also knew him as “Pancho, Chico, Don Franc, El Cholo, Mi Viejo, and Bigoton”

During his life, he was known to be an honest hardworking man. Over the past 20 years he worked as an arborist throughout California. He would also enjoy doing landscaping side jobs. He had a great reputation in both professions. His coworkers and supervisors admired his work ethic and the pride he set in his work. He was also known for always being punctual at work.

He always had a smile on his face. He had a bright and energetic personality. Along with being comforting, loving and inviting he truly had a heart of gold and a gentle soul. He always looked on the bright of side of any situation and was not one to speak ill of others. He always saw the good in everyone. He loved to make those around him laugh by sharing his stories and jokes. Francisco’s love for living things did not just end at people, he had a tremendous love for animals, especially his own pets.

Music was a big part of his life, not only did he enjoy listening to it but loved even more to show off his great dancing skills at the dance floor. If you were to look out to the dance floor, Francisco would be the one to catch your eye. His favorite style of dancing was zapateado, we’d joke that he would first break the dance floor before his breaking his cowboy boots. He'd mostly love dressing with vaquero attire, he'd compliment it with gold jewelry and big fancy shiny belts to top it off. You can say that the man had style.

Francisco had a passion for working, eating anything spicy and homemade. He loved being outdoors and surrounded by family and friends. His favorites movies were action and comedy, especially the “Cantinflas” series. He always made an effort to stay in touch with his long-distance family. He had a tremendous amount of love for his mom. Fortunately, he was able to visit his mother and his hometown Jalisco family not long before his passing. Above all, he loved being a father and grandfather. He was looking forward to the future of his granddaughter Eliana and the birth of his grandson.

Francisco loved living life and showing everyone the amazing, noble and genuine person, he was. In his lifetime he touched many lives. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him but never forgotten. In this tough time, it’s hard to know what’s next, but it brings us some comfort knowing that Francisco had a strong faith In God. We pray that Jesus was there with open arms to accept him into his new home. Until we see him again, may he rest in peace.
