Gary grew up on a farm near Joplin, Missouri. He graduated from Webb City High School in 1954 and served in the Army from 1959 until 1961. He was stationed in Korea where he served in an administrative capacity. He fondly recalled his time in the Army as some of the best in his life. Subsequently, he worked in a friend's bookstore.

He was a private and independent man who lived life on his terms but he was always honest and fair. He had a sharp wit and was quick to laugh.

Gary is survived by his sister, Sherry Falkner, his niece, Elizabeth, and two nephews, Jason, Ryan and cousins. He will be dearly missed by family, friends, and his neighbors in Menifee, California.

Your neighbors in Menifee will never forget you. You were always busy going to the Post Office to mail one of your collectible books or going to your mailbox to pick up a new DVD. You loaned me a couple of your favorite movies that I too enjoyed ... The Eye of the the Needle and Shutter Island, but we could not agree on the ending of the latter.
You enjoyed home cooking and you favored my pots of ham hocks and beans and blueberry scones. I will never forget about you trying to catch the snake in your garage. That went on for days. You were blessed to have out neighbor Efrain come and cook for you for several months. We were all so glad that he did. GOD speed dear friend, your are so loved. Arlyne
