Jeffrey Scott Tobias

January 17, 1967- February 01, 2020

Jeffrey Scott Tobias, 53 of Lake Elsinore, California, succumbed to cancer at the comfort of his own home surrounded by his family on February 01, 2020 at 21:02.

Jeff is survived by his daughter, Emily Anne Yun and her husband Tommy of Denver, CO and son Jeffrey Scott Tobias Jr. of Lake Elsinore, CA; one grandchild Jennah Yun, his Mother Sandra Faye Opitz of Wrightwood, CA; his brothers James Opitz of Fontana, CA and John Opitz of Norco, CA and sisters Dawn (Kevin) Schwartz of Colorado Springs, CO and Jenny (Jeff) Turmel of Wrightwood, CA along with many loving nieces, nephews and relatives. Jeff is preceded in death by his father John Tobias in 1993 and his stepfather Jerry Opitz in 1995.

Jeff was born January 17, 1967 in Newport Beach, CA to John Applegate Tobias and Sandra Faye Miller. He graduated from Costa Mesa High School in 1985. He married his former partner and wife Tootie Pham on December 17, 1988 in Las Vegas, NV with whom they bared two children, Jeffrey and Emily. He was employed for 15 years as a general contractor for a home building company where he enjoyed running the customer service department. He was an avid boater and spent many days prior to his illness on the waters with friends and fishing for tuna. He spent most of his weekends fishing out on the lake and kayaking. He also enjoyed hiking, biking, going shooting with friends and spending time with his daughter and granddaughter whenever he could. He was a family man and was always surrounded by family and friends. He enjoyed walking the swap meets and going to the desert and being out in Mother Nature. He spent free time watching his favorite TV shows, American Pickers and Gold Rush. He also enjoyed just going for a casual ride in his truck and off road vehicle. Jeff was always there to help relatives and friends with household projects or whatever else people needed him for, he was a great handyman.

Serving as Pallbearers will be James, John, Tommy, Jeff, Cheri, Schel and Jesse. Jeff will be laid to rest at Elsinore Valley Cemetery District in Lake Elsinore, California. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to UCLA Institute of Urologic Oncology for Kidney Cancer, 310-794-2447. With your help we can find a cure.

On behalf of his daughter Emily Yun and her husband Tommy and his Mother Sandra Opitz, we would like to say:

A special thank you to Jeff’s Oncologist, Dr. Sandy Liu of UCLA and all of the wonderful staff for taking such good care of my father following his two and a half year battle with metastatic Kidney Cancer. A special thank you to the people of Lamb’s Fellowship Church of Lake Elsinore, CA for their kindness and generosity and for opening their doors to allow us to lay my father to rest so he may go in eternal peace. A special thank you to all of my fathers’ loved ones including but not limited to his friends and family.

Thank you to everyone, for all of your countless hours, for the love and support you have shown and continue to show, this has not been easy and we truly appreciate you.
