Obituary

Phillip Joel Mihok passed away on April 20, 2020, at his home in Temecula, California. Born November 23, 1946, in Bridgeport, Connecticut, he was the only son of Dorothy Marion (Capwell) Mihok and Joseph Alexander Mihok. He achieved a bachelor’s in mathematics with honors from the University of Louisville in 1969, and a Master of Science in Mathematics from the University of Notre Dame in 1973. He served as a consultant with the United States Airforce through 1969 and went on to have a career as a business management consultant for 30 years. In addition to being a fiercely loyal husband, devoted father, loving grandfather, and member of the church, he will be remembered for his wit, wisdom, love of photography, and riding his motorcycle. Phil is survived by his wife, Ana Mihok; aunt, Marian Olha; five children, Cassiel, JP, Elizabeth, Javier, and Ernesto; ten grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice.

Phil was a wonderful man who remembered us at Christmas and when we sent him birth announcements, graduation ceremonies, etc. I thank him for his service to this country and for being a terrific stepfather. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family during this difficult time. May God bless him.

Phil is an amazing soul - I have to thank him for taking on my mother and kids - the love he had for my mom was actually very visible up until his last day- you could see he was trying to protect her and comfort her at the same time- he has been a blessing to my mother and all her kids- I have never seen her so happy- it took me a while to put this up because I’m not to good at writing my feelings down- Phil left this world strong- a great example of what to do when our time comes- he lived for us and now we honor him- to my mom all I can say is be strong- celebrate what he did for all of us- you honored Phil in life you were with him till his last second and we keep his soul alive through our memories- the thoughts of all the good and great times- though life is not perfect- we can look back and laugh and the silly thing - arguments - the subtle things he did to make you laugh and smile- also the father figure some of us desperately needed- hopefully this is what I’m supposed say in this but in my head Phil is still around- and as long as we keep his memory alive- he will never be gone- god bless him and his service to our country- We love you Mom- we love and honor Phil Mihok-

Phil was a man of excellence. He brought the best out in those around him—I would not be the man I am today without his guidance. He was kind and understanding, but never minced words. I will miss his wisdom, his sense of humor, and his adventurous streak. His advice was as good as gold and always given with humbleness.

Phil, thank you for all that you’ve given my family—I hope you know how admired and loved you were. May you Rest In Peace.

I have known Phil and Ana from the first time they set foot in St. Thomas of Canterbury. Phil and I worked on church projects together where he did most of the work. You could always be assured that if You were fortunate enough to be on Phil’s team that he would graciously share his expertise humbly and unquestionably. Most importantly, Phil was a dear and gracious friend and one you sorely missed if he happened to be absent from places you expected to see him. More importantly still, his love for Ana just always seemed to burst his buttons. I’m sorry to go on like this, but Phil was one in a million, and I join with all those who’ll have a tough time with his loss. Safe travels into God’s welcoming embrace, my Friend.
